Zipcar said today that it has expanded to seven more airports, bringing the total number of airports that travelers can use the car-sharing service at to more than 50.
Travelers will now have access to a wide variety of Zipcars, including the Volkswagen Golf, Toyota Prius and Ford Focus. The cars are located at Zipcar-branded parking spaces at airports.
“Zipcar makes it easier than ever to live without owning a car, and that includes providing a simple and convenient way to get around when you travel by air,” Zipcar President Kaye Ceille said in a written statement. “Whether you are in town for a short business trip, or you’re stuck at an airport for a long layover, Zipcar offers the flexibility and freedom to explore the surrounding area on your time and in your way.”
Zipcar customers have to pay membership fees plus the cost of the rental, unlike traditional airport rentals of companies such as Avis and Hertz. Gas, insurance and 180 miles per day are included in the price.
