On behalf of Compassionate Care Hospice, I would like to sincerely thank Sen. Kelli Stargel, chairwoman of the Polk County legislative delegation, and the entire delegation for their efforts in passing legislation allowing us to start work immediately on applying for a new license to resume patient care.
Sen. Stargel’s leadership, combined with Sen. Denise Grimsley’s sponsorship of the bill and the strong support of Rep. Colleen Burton and Rep. Neil Combee, will enable us to get back to our mission of helping terminally ill patients live out their days comfortably and with dignity.
I am also grateful to officials at the Agency for Health Care Administration for working with us to develop the legislative solution and to Gov. Rick Scott for signing the bill into law quickly.
I deeply regret the disruption this has caused our patients and employees but am hopeful we will be able to start hiring and accepting new clients as soon as possible. With this hurdle behind us, we are fully committed to serving the community that has so graciously supported us and our important work.
