Jeff Griffith joined Southern Strategy Group’s South Carolina office in 2011 after practicing law focusing primarily on regulatory and environmental matters and representing clients before the South Carolina General Assembly. Jeff worked over 15 years in various positions with Duke Power Company, now Duke Energy, where he held several positions in the General Counsel’s Office and served as the South Carolina state lobbyist. After leaving Duke Energy Jeff split his time between practicing law and lobbying for various clients. Jeff worked with two firms, Austin Rogers in Columbia and the Harness Law Firm in Mount Pleasant where he was exposed to many facets of energy and environmental regulatory practice. During his career, Jeff has tried cases in South Carolina and North Carolina and has appeared before the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the South Carolina Supreme Court on behalf of corporate and individual clients. He holds an AV (Preeminent) Rating from Martindale Hubble lawyer rating service.
Jeff has always been drawn to the political arena. Members of his immediate and extended family have served in the US Congress, South Carolina Legislature, as prosecuting attorneys, trial judges, and a school superintendent. As a member of Southern Strategy Group, Jeff is able to be involved politically in his native state.
Jeff is a cum laude graduate of Wofford College and the University of South Carolina School of Law. Jeff is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and South Carolina. Jeff offers expertise in utility, environmental, and regulatory issues to Southern Strategy Group’s clients.
Jeff is married to Avis, and they have three children Jay, Elizabeth, and Rick.
