Brandon Dermody

Brandon Dermody has served in government and lobbied government for most of his professional career. Brandon served as Special Assistant to United States Senator Rick Santorum.  Brandon’s duties ranged from constituent services to economic development.  Brandon helped organize the U.S. District Court Appointments for Pennsylvania and developed the Eastern Pennsylvania community outreach program to complement the 1996 Medicaid Reform Bill co-authored by Senator Santorum.

Brandon’s experience as a health care regulator has served him well in his lobbying career. Brandon was Senior Manager of Government and Regulatory Affairs for AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan for seven years. AmeriHealth Mercy comprises the largest family of Medicaid-only managed care plans in the United States. Brandon then became Senior Director of Government Affairs for Select Health of South Carolina, a managed care organization serving families in South Carolina since 1996. Today Select Health has grown to over 200,000 members and has saved the State of South Carolina over $50 million dollars.

Brandon’s experience at Select Health provided him a strong grounding in South Carolina politics.  Brandon left a successful tenure at Select Health to start The Harrell Group, where he served as Owner/President from 2003-2005. In 2005, Brandon opened and became the Managing Partner of Southern Strategy Group’s South Carolina office.

Currently, Brandon serves on a number of boards and commissions and was a guest lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania’s Fels School of Government and LaSalle University Political Science Department.  Brandon served as Honorary Commander for the USAF 14th Airlift Squadron at the Charleston Air Force Base. After two years of service as a Honorary Commander, Brandon was asked to join the Charleston Air Force Base Commander’s Advisory Board.  Brandon has served on the advisory council for the Lowcountry March of Dimes.

Brandon received a B.A. degree in political science and a minor in Russian linguistics from Florida State University.  Brandon studied abroad at St. Petersburg University in Russia. Brandon has his P.A.H.M certification from the Academy for Healthcare Management. Brandon was invited to attend 2009 National Security Forum at the prestigious Air Force War College in Montgomery, Alabama.

Today, Brandon lives in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
