Andy Patrick joins Southern Strategy Group’s South Carolina after a career holding various public service positions with the U.S. Air Force, New York State Police, United States Secret Service, and South Carolina House of Representatives.
In 2010, Andy was elected to represent Hilton Head Island in the South Carolina House of Representatives and was re-elected again in 2012. Andy became South Carolina’s leading voice for families and children in the South Carolina State House. As Chairman of the K-12 Education Subcommittee, Andy worked tirelessly to improve educational opportunity for each student, educational choice for all families, and accountability in every classroom. Andy believes that by empowering families and rewarding the best and brightest who educate, South Carolina can be a national leader in educating the leaders of the 21st Century. During Andy’s time in the State House, he served as a member of the House Education and Education Oversight Committees. Andy was also appointed to serve on the House Ethics Study and DOR Security Breach Investigative Committees.
After serving as a state trooper, Andy was commissioned as a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service in 1997. Throughout the course of his Secret Service career, Andy supervised and directed the planning and implementation of security arrangements for the president, vice president, and foreign heads of state. Andy spent a great deal of his Secret Service career in a liaison role with the U.S. intelligence community, supervising and directing the receipt and review of law enforcement and national security intelligence information and assessing its impact on Secret Service protective responsibilities. In 2007, Andy resigned his post with the Secret Service and continued his focus on protecting Americans as an independent consultant providing strategic consulting and comprehensive assistance for protecting critical infrastructure.
Andy began his career as an active duty member of the United States Air Force and then the Air National Guard. During this period, Andy graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the State University of New York.
Andy is a member of the Rotary Club of Hilton Head Island, Greater Island Council, American Society of Industrial Security, Advisory Council to the Institute for Child Success, and Association of Former Agents – United States Secret Service. Andy serves as a trustee of the Walker Foundation (South Carolina’s School for the deaf and blind) and the Free Enterprise Foundation.
